ITC's Spices Business received an award for Outstanding Performance in Food Safety for 201-22.
With decades of experience in chilli production, the Business has provided handholding support to chilli farmers of Andhra Pradesh and has helped them produce food safe chilli.
These concerted efforts have been recognized by Confederation of Indian Industry(CII), with the Business winning the award under the 'Large Food Business category'.
The CII Award for Food Safety, launched by the Confederation of Indian Industry in 2010, promotes internationally benchmarked practices on Food Safety in small, medium and large food businesses, and enables building capacity in the food chain. The one of a kind award focuses on food safety maturity assessment to encourage excellence.
This sectoral award considers entries from Indian food businesses of differing scales, covering segments such as bakery, beverages, catering, confectionary, food testing laboratory, meat & poultry, QS snacks & savouries, as well as spices & sauces. In the year 2019-20, a total of approximately 1400 operating units have participated for the programme.
The ITC Agri Business Spices team bagged the award for "Outstanding Performance in Food Safety in the Spices & Sauces Category" for its integrated sterilization and grinding (ISG) facility. The honour comes within two years of the unit's inception.
ABD-Spices team received award for its meritorious performance in Export of Spices by Spice Board. This recognition is provided for excellence in export of Spices from India. Mr. Sanjeev Bisht, Business Head of Spices Business, ABD, received this award from Hon'ble Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Shri Suresh Prabhu on 08.12.2018, in the presence of Prof. K.V. Thomas , Hon'ble MP, Ernakulam.
ABD-Spices team received CII Food Safety Award - 2018 for "Significant Achievement on Food Safety" for its Integrated Sterilization and Grinding plant in Guntur. A total of 1344 applicants participated, amongst which 43 were selected for food safety awards in different categories. Spices has got the 2nd highest recognition in overall order and Highest in Spices category. The Award is received from Rita Teaotia, Chairperson, FSSAI, Pawn Kumar Agarwal, CEO, FSSAI, Ms Mariam Eid, Vice Chairperson, Codex Alimentarius Commission.
